MLE was founded on 7 october 1996 and it began operations in 1998 with the opening of the new Malpensa 2000.

In February 1999 MLE acquired part of the cargo activities from the previous cargo handler, SEA, by managing at first about 50 airline companies.

In 2002 it moved to the present headquarters at Cargo City, the biggest and the most comprehensive platform for air freight in Sothern Europe.
Malpensa cargo city covers an area of 1 million sq together with the area for logistics, storage, processing and preparation of orders and an intermodal rail terminal.

From 2003 MLE also began handling operations for freight and mail at Linate Airport.

From October 2009 the company, by signing the 75% of the shareholder from SEA group, was acquired by Bcube Spa (already Argol), an integrated logistic operator acting to a global level that in 2008 was the only shareholder of Argol Air Cargo in Rome (FLE), starting in this way a process of integration between the two major Italian airports.
